Happy New Year!!
Since I have a brand-spanking new griller for Christmas, I decided to try it out for the New Year…

And to cap off the evening, the countdown goes… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…

To our first christmas together! Our first Noche Buena. This term is actually Spanish for “Good Night” referring to the Christmas Eve. Traditionally in the Philippines, Noche Buena is a feast that comes at midnight after the family has attended the late evening Christmas Eve Mass. Skipping the evening mass as we are not Catholics, we went straight to the feast. Instead of eating at 12 midnight, we ate from 8pm to well past midnight! JM said he never had a noche buena before, so he had lots of catching up to do, food-wise! Hence, ta-dah!! My six-course noche buena.
Pan-fried Steak with white wine mushroom sauce, Caesar Salad on the side
Pan-fried lamp chops with mint jelly
Waldorf Macaroni Salad
Chicken-and-Beef Lasagna
Roasted Rosemary Chicken with Baked Potatoes
Banoffee Pie

It was quite unfortunate that the official photographers were not able to take a picture of the lovely lovely dessert bar during our wedding (oh my hard work!!) … I was told that the guest gobbled the goodies right away… I guess that’s a good thing though, at least they enjoyed!
Here are the few photos I grabbed from mobile phone snaps from some of the guests, managed to salvage a few at least.

There’s a saying that goes… “Pakakasalan kita, kahit ilang beses!” Well my man did it, he married me twice this year! Civil wedding last June 24, religious wedding last Saturday, December 10. I thought it wouldn’t be much of a difference the second time around, boy was I wrong. It felt so good with everyone congratulating us and also knowing that my friends and family were genuinely happy for us. We feel giddy as only newly-weds can be!

Fun Taiwan!
Ok, it was not so much fun because it was raining a lot. It would have been a lot nicer if the weather cooperated, but oh well, it was nice to have had a break from the daily grind.
3-days/3-nights trip to Taipei
Flight: Jetstar
I have been a fan of budget airlines from the very beginning. My husband is not. This time around he had no choice because Jetstar was the only carrier that had available flight schedule on the days we wanted. We decided on the trip and booked just 2 days before the actual flight. (Yes, we have the tendency to do that. This was not our first spontaneous trip - read: HK 2009 trip). Jetstar in one word? Turbulence. It’s never been a problem for me, as I usually just sleep through the flight. JM, on the other hand, was gripping my hand with his icy-cold ones.
Hotel: Taipei Fullerton Hotel - North
I must say this hotel was quite nice. It describes itself as 5-star, but I would tend to say maybe around 4-star level instead. It had more of a boutique hotel kinda feel instead of the usual grandeur of 5-star hotels. Nevertheless, I liked the place very much. Its quite a small hotel however the breakfast spread is amazing I must say. I’m a heavy-breakfast kind of person and seeing rice, pasta, and noodles being offered is a delight for me. Aside from the breakfast, another good thing is that the hotel is just a 2-minute walk to 中山國中 mrt station.
Itinerary:
Since we only had 3 days and 3 nights (and only 1 day of planning) we just selected few items from a ready-made itinerary we got from our friend - thanks Jac Cua-Chua! :)

Soft meows, loud meows, howls and growls, I think I’ll be hearing them in my sleep. We handled close to 350 cats today.
Volunteering for Cat Welfare Society’s 2011 Spay Day made me realize NO NO NO we should not anymore buy/sell and breed cats — there are too many of them already! All cats are equal; with or without breed, they deserve our ♥ -
Surprise Bridal Shower for Bev and me! It was a fun SPArty!

Do you see what I see?
It’s a cat peeking from the window!

Every now and then when I come home from work, I see my cat waiting for me.

I was chatting with a colleague of mine late friday afternoon, just before the clock was about to hit 5.30. He was asking me what my plans were for the weekend. I told him… no plans, absolutely nothing. Just hang around the house, probably do some laundry. And that’s just what I did today. After I and JM did a load of laundry, we watched some tv, and then went down to hang out by the pool. We have hell of a lot of pools in our condo. I actually don’t know how many.
I LOVE staying at home. And why not? My home is totally awesome :)

Eat with your hands? Check!
Tonight was a good night for some hearty grubbing. Reminiscent of our last trip to Washington DC where we walked considerable miles just to get fresh crabs, we decided to have the same old-bay style crabs for dinner.
How to cook? Easy! All you need is vinegar, water, crabs, and lots and lots of old-bay spice! I felt quite bad for the crabs as I had to steam them alive… sniff sniff. I thought I would have a hard time trying to eat them afterwards, but no siree.
